Find your inner "Jamaica, mon" mentality with the epitome of relaxation!
Jamaica vacation rentals offer something for every person and every occasion. Beachcombers will find plenty of locations to tan and relax on miles of breathtaking beach; divers of all levels can explore the colorful reefs and abundant marine eco systems; explorers can hike or ride horseback up the Jamaican Blue Mountains; lovers of the caffeine bean can sample and taste home-grown coffee from the island and select a favorite for their Jamaica villa; ornithology buffs can visit the Rocklands Feeding Station and identify the 27 native species on the island.
Guests to the Jamaican island can view gorgeous sunrises and sets from the privacy of your very own Jamaica vacation rental or travel across the island to view from one of many magnificent locations. Most Jamaica villas come with a full staff (chef, butler, housekeeper, and laundress) included. Experience the “No problem, mon” service first hand as your every desire is met by our friendly and attentive staff.
Jamaica Must-See
No matter your destination, Jamaica’s guests will find something interesting that fits their vacation desires. Fort Montego ruins from the 17th century overlook Montego harbor. Built by the Brits, this fort is one of many erected to protect the coast from pirates. Explore the 12 pound cannons and be sure to bring cash for the craft market just outside the gate. Other military forts, armaments and artifacts can be found at Port Royal, which used to be the British headquarters of the Caribbean.
Walk down any street and find Georgian townhouses of the wealthy merchants and planters. These lovely buildings house local restaurants now and have largely been restored to their former glory. Greenwood and Rose Hall, specifically, are over 200 years old and fully restored. Guided tours of plantation houses provide a historical glimpse of life on the sugar plantation.
Nature lovers can visit the Negril Point Lighthouse, Dunn’s River Falls, the Green Grotto Lake (and her caves), or the Rockfort natural mineral spa. Find lots of natural flora and fauna at Fern Gully, which is home to 500 species of rain forest ferns.
Jamaica Activities
Jamaican villa rentals are typically just short walks away from shallow reefs for your snorkeling pleasure. Book a dive opportunity directly from your Jamaica villa to the dive boat and visit some of the diverse wealth of water locations within easy boating distance. Water is always pleasant (around 80° year-round) with very good water visibility. Licensed dive operators can be found in Montego Bay, Negril, Ochos Rios, Falmouth, Runaway Bay and Kingston. If you are lucky, you might get to visit a government created marine park created to protect the fragile ecosystems.
Fisherman can reel in dinner and enjoy incredible blue marlin, gahoo, tuna, bonito, and kingfish. You can enjoy your fresh catch of the day in your Jamaica villa gourmet kitchen or have your villa chef prepare a scrumptious meal out of it.
Visit the famous Rick’s Café to take in a gorgeous sunset or cliff jump. Nightlife in Jamaica is laid-back and includes waterfront bars and restaurants all the way to dance and reggae clubs.
Jamaica Golf
Tryall Club, Half Moon Golf Club and Sandals Golf and Country club are just a few of the top courses on the island. Ask your villa specialist how to make arrangements for your golf outing from your Jamaican vacation rental and take all the work out of your trip.
Jamaica Beaches
Beaches in Jamaica can meet everyone’s desire. The northwest coast (includes Montego Bay, Doctor’s Cave, Walter Fletcher, and Cornwall) feature white sand. Visit Frenchman’s Bay (east of Port Antonio) with your sweetheart and prepare to see one of the best small beaches on the island. Find a spot in the cove’s foliage shade to enjoy both the scenery and sunbathing.
For swimmers, try a visit to Blue Lagoon which features 180-feet of depth. Perhaps you’ve seen this beach while watching the movie which shares it’s name. The deep clear water helps give this lagoon her name as the water appears a beautifully vibrant cobalt blue. This beach does have an admission charge.
Negril is home to the famous 7-mile beach and offers many types of water sports for all to enjoy. As Negril is on the island’s west coast, you’ll experience some of the best sunsets on the island in this area. The stunning colors and patterns in the sky make this a must-see destination for the romantic getaway.
Jamaica Shopping
Ask your Jamaica villa staff for their favorite straw market. Blue Mountain coffee and jerk sauce (like Pickapeppa) is a sure find. Bargaining is the rule; though make sure you understand the currency required before purchasing (you can negotiate and use with many different currency types, just be sure you are on the same page as the merchant).
Jamaica Travel Tips
- There are two major International airports in Jamaica with non-stop flights from many US cities; Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The airport in Montego Bay tends to cater more to tourists heading to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril.
- Make sure you have at least one meal that includes zesty Jamaican jerk chicken. Additionally, be sure to try some of the tropical fruit – the taste is like you’ve never known.
- Jamaica has one of the most varied climates in the Caribbean. The average temperatures at the coast range from 71° to 88°.
- USD widely accepted, but it's wise to exchange a small amount into the Jamaican dollar for transactions with beach/roadside vendors. Be sure to ask which dollar unit is being quoted when making any purchase in Jamaica.
- Credit Cards are widely accepted at tourist-friendly establishments.
- Private cars and drivers are the best way to travel on the island. We are happy to arrange drivers to meet you at your Jamaican vacation rental and transport your party on all your adventures.
